Spaghetti Junction
On World Earth Day, 21 April 2020, we released a brand new dance film: Spaghetti Junction.
Filmed on location beneath Birmingham’s (in)famous interchange Spaghetti Junction, the film features dancers from Birmingham Royal Ballet and Hong Kong Ballet and raises awareness of the climate change crisis. Spaghetti Junction was released as part of the BBC’s Culture in Quarantine online festival during the Covid-19 lockdown. #SpaghettiJunctionDanceFilm
Supported by Arts Council England, West Midlands Growth Company, Birmingham Hippodrome, Southside BID.
Spaghetti Junction is the first of a duo of dance films we have created to support climate justice. Subscribe to our YouTube channel and watch the accompany film Lying Together HERE, which was filmed completely in Hong Kong.
These projects came from Corey’s wider collaboration with Hong Kong Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet ignited by Birmingham’s Chinese New Year 2020 celebrations.
For this exciting programme of performances and activities, Corey created a new, live, short dance work which saw Hong Kong Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet dancers perform together for the first time. This international collaboration celebrated and welcomed Chinese New Year as part of the annual festivities in Birmingham, co-produced by The Chinese Festival Committee Birmingham and Birmingham Hippodrome.
